New Collage

Last night I couldn't sleep, so I got up and started making art for a while. This is the result and I really like it! I just played with pieces of paper and images I had laying around to see if I could make them work together and pull it all together with some acrylic washes. I had a lot of fun and drifted off to sleep easily afterwards.

Yesterday was one of those days where I just have so much good stuff swirling around in my brain that I can't find rest. I was thinking about how I could use several lives at once to do all the things I want to do. I could use separate lives for making art, traveling with Daniel, reading all the good books out there, cooking, seeing friends, blogging, crafting, etc. Do you know what I mean?

Whenever I think of getting into something in depth, I realize that there are so many things I love to do that I can only do some of them as intensely as I like. And then I visit your blogs and you inspire me to completely new things and I wonder where I'll ever find the time...

How do you get everything done you want to? Or do you?

P.S. I liked my new collage so much I listed it in my Etsy shop. {SOLD}

  1. Oh my goodness, Silke, how did you see right into my head? I deal with this issue all the time. I'm so grateful to have an abundance of inspiration, and the desire to explore so many different avenues--but darn if I don't wish I could just FOCUS sometimes! :) Still, my life is overflowing with color, art, love, and laughter...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

    I adore your middle-of-the-night creation, and am proud of you for going ahead and getting out of bed to do it! Some of my most creative times come when I least expect it.

  2. Such a very pretty collage! I love the colors. Would love to know a bit more about the elements -- such as who is the little girl? (your mother?) and what do the German words mean?

    I have a lot of things I want to do, and often I wish I could clone myself. But sometimes I sort of drift through the day and don't get all that much done... today is one of those days for me.

  4. great new collage....

    in answer to your question...I coat the watercolor paper (both sides) with gesso and that helps (doesn't altogether cure) the curling problem. :) Thanks for your kind comments :)

  5. Oh Silke I love this new collage! I am not nearly as productive when I can't sleep, which is hardly ever anyway! I just tend to lie there and think, or pray, or send healing. And I never get everything done. It is kind of like working with a house....or one's body! You get one thing shored up and poof, something else happens to fix! I never have everything cleaned up either, which is bad since our house is on the market! I told the realtor to just bring people in who have imaginations about what COULD be! <;-) xo

  6. Hello Silke, I understand what you are saying about time, sometimes it happends to me too. I also want to do a lot of things that I am not sure if I could do it as I wish I could, etc. Some times I don't know how to do that and the day pass too fast, so I don't get what I want ( sorry for my english, sometimes I don't Know how to explain myself). Nice painting, I liked it very much. My inspirations usually cames at night too.
