Today, I wanted to show you the latest postcard I made for my friend Beth as part of our monthly handmade postcard exchange. This was a VERY quick little painting - more a sketch really. But I love the colors and the flower. I painted the back of it green with a message in white gel pen. Then I gave it a couple of coats of matte varnish on both sides before sending it through the mail - no envelope. Beth tells me that it arrived without damage! Another successful experiment...
Beth sent me a gorgeous card with one of her beautiful altered photographs! Love it!! It's been a fun thing to look forward to at the beginning of every month!
Thank you all so much for all your good wishes yesterday on our anniversary. It warmed our hearts!! Stay tuned for the Sweet Potato Salad recipe tomorrow!
Beautiful card. I love that green.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Lovely card, Silke!

Silke, as you know, I am sooooo enjoying our postcard exchange and look forward each month to seeing your latest creative piece designed especially for me. You have inspired me with this post -- maybe I will do a post on my blog of the cards I've sent out over the last few months.
ReplyDeleteReaders, consider starting a postcard exchange with your friends! It is a very fun thing to do. And as much as I enjoy blogging and emailing, there is still something special about getting a card or other missive in the mail.
Very nice card, Silke. Can't wait for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteOOOoooo, first things last... I see tomorrow is the recipe! YAY!
ReplyDeleteI love this quick little painting... so spontaneous and beautiful and colorful (love color), with the little word "bloom"... I used to do this postcard art thing, and I miss it... they always mean a piece of my heart in the mail.
Great job, Silke...
Davi
PS -- Whoops, there really is a "d" on the end of my name.
ReplyDeleteOhhh - i love this snail mail exchange stuff - can we see beth's altered photo card if i use the pretty please words?
ReplyDeletei love the idea of the post card exchange! i'll bet your postman loves looking at them, too...this one is fabulous!! :)
ReplyDeleteDon't you love getting "real" mail? It is neat to exchange postcards like that. You should save them all and make them into a book.
ReplyDeleteThank you, all, for your lovely comments! I am getting ready to go on a trip, but as soon as I get back, I'll post some of the cards I have received from Beth. In the meantime, I think she's planning to post some of them on her blog, so head on over and check... Hugs, Silke
