Most of these Daniel photographed on a walk by the river on Saturday. I stayed home - it was too hot for me, but I was sorry I missed seeing the rat snake!
Later that night, a couple of visitors in our back yard. We think the opossum has a den somewhere on the other side of the fence.
And the frog let us know (in a loud voice) that it was pretty humid that evening.
Tomorrow, I'll have a garden update for you and maybe some art...
Thank you so much for all your encouraging comments about my latest painting and your birthday wishes to my sister. I'll pass them on to her...
Elisabeth
Those are wonderful photos Silke! I love nature so much. All lovely.....even the snake and the possum!
ReplyDeleteStunning images. I've been away from this blog for too long - that's obvious.
ReplyDeleteTolle Bilder!
ReplyDeleteBegegnen möchte ich aber keines der Tiere.
Mag lieber die putzigen Tierchen, wie Hunde, Kaninchen usw.
Grüße, Carmen
Liebe Silke,
ReplyDeletedanke für die Schlange ...
Grüße, Verena
These animals are enough to keep me indoors for the rest of the season! Hope all is well with you dearest Silke.
ReplyDeleteHi Silke..Fantastic...yay..feel like i went on an animal-adventure!! Beautiful photographs!!
ReplyDeleteKiki~
Here we're still waiting for hot days to come, but anyway we won't be seeing most of these animals.
ReplyDeleteNice paintings by the way!
The animals there have such brilliant colors! Love the blue on the black bird. Did you say you were sorry you missed the SNAKE??? What a woman! **kisskiss** Deb
ReplyDeleteDie Bilder sind alle großartig!
ReplyDeleteDaniel took some great photos! What kind of bird is the blue and black one? It is stunning! So are the photos of the anolis (lizard)! And I used to have a frog like that - long ago. He was so cute. I've never seen a live opossum before - are they a nuisance in the garden?
ReplyDeleteThe black and blue bird is a boat-tailed grackle. The males are stunning! The opossums are very shy and only come out at night. They've never done anything to our garden. When Winslow surprises one in the yard, the opossum plays dead and Winslow loses all interest. The first time I thought it really had died, but after a few minutes, it got up and waddled away. They are strange creatures...
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. The snake and the possum scare me though. :) Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos Daniel! How incredible to have so much nature right where you live.
ReplyDeleteWonderful wildlife photography - We have one of those pretty green lizards living by the back window and he pops in and out of the airconditioning condensor just to prance in front of Middi, who watches him through the widow doing his little mating dance with the red balloon throat. Then the little fella starts to bounce up and down on his teeny tiny legs, dancing for her - what an impossible courtship ;-)
ReplyDeleteMiddi, is my cat, and she loves watching her little green lizard courting her through the window - at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos! I love this time of year, when all the creatures are stirring from the winter slumber. That possum is SO cute!!! And I love that little froggie. :) Theresa
ReplyDeleteHi Silke!
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos, youre both such a wonderfully creative couple!
...and lovely to see another classmate in Kelly Rae's class, so exciting! :-)
These are really neat pictures! I like them all, except the snake. Don't like snakes -- no way, nowhere, no time. But thank God you gave me a warning so I knew it was coming! ☺
ReplyDeleteThose are very cool pictures. I wouldn't of been too crazy about the snake, however! Not my thing!! lol
ReplyDeleteWay cool! Thanks Silke! Blessings.
ReplyDeleteOooh! Lotsa critters. That lizard is a fantastic shade of green! Possums freak me out. There was one trapped in our garage once, and he had such a ghostly face. *shudder*
