Painting Again

Here's the last part of the larger painting I cut into smaller pieces. These two women sort of look like they belong together. They look like they support each other on their respective journeys.

My cold is leaving quite slowly, but I feel a little bit better every day. I can't wait to be back to my usual energy level (can you tell I'm not too patient?). Hope you are all doing well!!

  1. To me, they look like the same woman - maybe the consious and unconsious self? Oder ein Spiegelbild des Selbsts? Love the bold colours and the whole piece is very thought provoking.

  2. I am glad you are starting to feel better, take care of yourself.

p.s I can see a little angel in the T section of the first ladies face.

  3. Hi Silke,

This is an interesting composition, with the one face receeding not only by placement but through use of color too. Is she real? Is she the soul of the woman? Just a close friend?
    Questions, questions! (which I enjoy!)
Glad the nasty cold is leaving.....there is never enough time for art!
Take care and hope you're all well soon---who IS patient about getting well??? ;)

    XXOO!!

  4. I feel that the second woman is a spiritual friend - supporter of the first one.

  6. I am happy to hear you are feeling better!!! I can't believe these are two painting combined together - I never would have guessed. The woman on the right has a definite spiritual feel to her - like she is a a spirit to the woman on the left. Very haunting - in a good way!
    Enjoy your weekend! :) Theresa

Lovely and powerful..makes me think of Jeanne D'Arc...both powerful sides of her energy..as young maiden and spiritual warrior-ess!

  8. Hi Silke, I'm happy to hear that you're feeling better! I do hope that you get all better very soon!
I love this painting, the colors are so wonderful! The women to me seem that they are one of the same woman. Maybe like stregata said, the conscious and unconscious self, or even like Anne Huskey-Lockard had stated, is the second woman the soul of the woman of the first woman. This painting is not only gorgeous but very powerful in it's message!
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!
    Hugs and love...

  9. To me, they look like 2 versions of the same woman. The one on the right looks like a shadow of the woman on the left. This is a complex piece of art, the kind of piece that one could look at for hours, discovering the many stories within it. Very moving!

  11. WOW! When I enlarged this, I just about fell off my chair. I'm not into analyzing art, I just know when something pleases me, intrigues me, and this really does! The texture, the colors...splendid, Silke!

  18. Hallo Silke,

Just wanted to leave a comment to let you know I've been thinking of you. Glad to hear your cold is leaving, albeit very slowly. Hang in there! At least you're feeling well enough to paint and that is a good thing :-)

  19. Well, all, thank you for your lovely comments! Actually, I was thinking what some of you expressed when I was painting these two ladies - that one looked like the soul of the other, or the shadow of the other. But when I was writing it in my post, I thought it sounded altogether too deep, so I erased it. I'm glad though, that you all picked up on it anyway... Thank you!! Love, Silke

  20. i felt when i saw this painting that is was a woman with her spirit guide! i love how subjective art is!
hope you are feeling better...i've had a little bug myself and am so tired of feeling under the weather every couple of weeks. i haven't seen the sun in over a week either which doesn't help i'm sure. i will stop complaining now:-)
have a wonderful weekend my friend!

  24. Silke, I love your unique style - the proportions of the faces, the expressiveness of the eyes, the layers in the background.
To me the woman on the right looks like she's a shadow of the woman on the left. Perhaps her hidden self, perhaps the spirit of her past.
    Keep up the great work.

  25. I see them each as dreams of each other...both real, both dreams...what does that say about our own "reality"? Lots to ponder.

  26. Oh, Silke! This is awesome! I really LOVE how the right woman's portrait is unfinished. It's dreamy!
