Road Trip - Part 1: Grand Vistas

I think most of these speak for themselves. These first few are from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I think it it one of the most beautiful and lush places I have ever visited. That morning we woke up early and took a drive to see the sun come up. It was so worth it!
Truly breathtaking!

Even when it's gray and rainy.

(How do you like my hair after four days of camping and not showering?! It was starting to resemble a silver helmet...)
These last photos are from Shenandoah National Park - a very different landscape. It felt much more arid to us there.
The Big Meadow was a great place to walk around in. It was covered with blueberry plants, but none of them ready to pick yet.
And here are a couple of pictures of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

Photos somehow don't do the grandeur of these places justice, but I hope you liked them anyway. Tomorrow - Part 2: Flora!

  3. Hi Silke!

The second photo is so perfect, it looks like a fiber art piece, or a fine print from a printmaker. Beautiful, beautiful countryside!
I love the cast clean areas that still remain----so good for the heart, mind and soul to get away from the hub-bub of the everyday!
Hope your *patient* is doing well! ;)

    XXOO!!

  8. Hello Silke, nice to meet you on my blog. The little girls mum is from Indianapolis.
    Your photos are wunderful.
Do you know Grafenwöhr? This is the town I come from. My first love was a GI from Indiana. My mother don't like it. I have been 14 years old. So i must stay at home each evening and i cried many weeks. And then he forgot me. Thats live.
Viele Grüße, mein Amerikanisch ist furchtbar
geworden. Ich habe niemanden mehr zum sprechen. Man verlernt es.

  15. Linda R. Reminds me of the trip Asako and I took to Shenandoah National Park one fall! We just spent one night but wished we'd had more time--just beautiful. And the pictures, as beautiful as they are, don't do it justice! Looks like you had a wonderful time. Glad to hear Daniel is recoverying well from his surgery. Tell him hello for me. :D

  16. Just lovely, Silke! I love the mountains and meadows and all these wonderful dimensions in the landscape...I bet it was amazing to be right in the middle of it. I can't wait to take a trip to the mountains again and breathe...

Thanks so much for sharing and your "helmet" (he, he, he) looks just fine considering you didn't do this to win a beauty contest, but to refresh your soul, right?
