Lady in Pink - Work in Progress

Ok, here's another first for me. My first figure painted with acrylics. She's not finished yet, but I wanted to post her as she is becoming.

Again, just like the pastel face (wow, faces are difficult!), she looks so serious - but also a little anticipatory. Maybe she's getting ready for the theater or a grand party. I used some sheet music (Schubert) and an old handwritten German cookie recipe for her skirt and love how they show through.

Something is still missing, but I don't quite know what. Some embellishment on her blouse maybe? Something more interesting in the background? I'll let her rest until tomorrow and maybe it'll come to me by then. If you have any suggestions, let me know...

And thanks to all of you for your wonderful encouragement and suggestions on my previous posts! I love it!!

  1. I love the collaged pink skirt. Give me something with words on it any day and I am happy. I could see this serious lady with a fun pair of wings, beautiful butterfly wings. But maybe that is to silly for you. Like you I can always tell when something is not done but have trouble knowing what to add to finish it. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

  3. Wow, Silke! She is gorgeous! Love the colors and the textures in back. Love the collaged skirt! Ha, I had to laugh about your serious face comment. People used to tell me all the time that I looked serious, when in fact, I was very happy inside. I guess it just doesn't always show on the surface.

Lovely, and can't wait to see what more you do with it!
