This is where I had left off last time and I spent two days just looking at the background to see what was next. I turned it every which way and finally, when I turned it upside down once more, I saw her. Just the outline of the right side of her face and everything flowed from there.
I added just a little bit of color and then sketched her in a little bit more before letting it sit again to know how to proceed. I am in new waters here - I am working much more transparently than I ever have. I loved this background to much that I want it to be visible through her.
So far so good, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteWonderful, this is really a new direction and I love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely :D
ReplyDeleteWow Silke,
ReplyDeleteYou can see this painting is going to be wonderful. The background textures are great, like patchwork.
I will look forward to seeing the end result!:)
Hugs,

Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSilke liebe,
ReplyDeleteit looks wonderfull, and keeping the background will make a whole special picture.
Hugs and love, Dorthe
How interesting to watch you patiently try to find her and then pull her out into the foreground. Love watching your process.
ReplyDeleteLove the way the background shows through the paint. I'm looking forward to seeing the completed picture. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, the background is beautiful in and of itself---but turning the canvas seems to let some of the more *interesting bits* show through.
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with all your work but from the past couple of paintings, I like the flowing hair in this one, and also how the figure leans into the visual frame. Lots of motion which balances the background well!
Can't wait to see where she goes from here!!!
XXOO!!
Anne
I like it a lot! The colors and textures are fantastic. And I'm curious to see what you do next.
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful Silke!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the end result!

Ooh this is too exciting. I cannot wait for the final outcome.
ReplyDeleteHow are you this morning sweetheart? I have not had my coffee yet and I feel so hyperactive already.
OMG! Silke. I am in big trouble!!! That darn Facebook account I had for over two years which I neglected, I recently picked it up and now I am getting a-a-aa-aaa-addicted to it. AAAACK! Another thing to be guilty about. But today, I chatted with my teenage nieces and nephews so that was really cool!
Have a great day. I will try to draw something this morning and then paint later in the afternoon.
HELLLLLLOOOOOO SILKE!!!
Tsup!
Silke - I love the background and think the flowing hair is the perfect juxtaposition. It will be interesting to see just how much of that background shows - it's going to be so pretty. I know pretty isn't the ultimate complement to every artist but I just think these colors are pretty.
ReplyDeleteMy boo-boo transfer is hiding now - should finish that piece today.
thank you ~ Sherry
I loved seeing how you saw the face in this painting. Thank you for the demonstration. I'm enjoying my last two days of Arizona sun hope you have a nice weekend. Lorrie

ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I love the way you work, how you allow things to evolve, how you listen first and then follow. It is an exciting way to work. It is also exciting to watch.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHHAHA! Silke, you were wearing your inside out then. Oh goodness, you do not need to apply! We can smell the paint from here. You are definitely AA material but aside from painting and drawing, baking and photography what do you call someone with a knitting problem? Hahahah!
ReplyDeleteWonderfully radiant! Magic!
ReplyDeleteKiki~
