She had experienced a renewal of her soul and suddenly the whole world looked different!
Here another little 4 x 6 sketch that I really like! At some point while painting the background and her hair, I had a paint brush in my right and another brush in my left hand and worked very fast and very intuitively. And I love the result - much more painterly than my other pieces.
I hadn't entered anything recently in the Illustration Friday weekly challenge, so I decided that she'd make a good entry! Head on over and take a look at how others have interpreted the theme of renewal.
Tomorrow I have something exciting to show you - it came in the mail yesterday... Until then, enjoy your day, you wonderful people!!
Hi, Silke- I'm feeling a lot of light energy around this piece. Very fun & uplifting! You must have been having a blast painting her. Two-handed painting - wow!!
ReplyDeleteSilke! She is just perfectly perfect - your work continues to soar. Beautiful take on the prompt and so exactly right for a brand new year. And on that note - the happiest of Happy New Years to you, dear friend. xx
ReplyDeleteJust lovely--and isn't it great when your muse just takes over!
ReplyDeleteOh my, she is so youthful and delightful.
ReplyDeleteI LoVe ♥ **blows 2010 kisses** Deb
This is lovely. I've never done the paintbrush in each hand--it sure worked out well here.
ReplyDeletehappy new year to you too, silke.
ReplyDeleteshe has a look of serenity about her. i covered her face so i could just see her eyes, and then i did that with just her mouth. i have a feeling she is becoming wise and she knows it.....
is she you, silke? ♥
Oh Silke, I love her! She has such a sweet expression!!! I bet that is what you look like, when you get lost in thought.
ReplyDeleteSilke I love her, she looks young and innocent and hopeful.
ReplyDeleteLove you.

Lovely as always, Silke! Great job! Theresa :)
ReplyDeleteShe looks beautiful and pensive Silke.
ReplyDeleteI like her outlook for New Years!
By the way, your critters are beautiful too. Ramses looks like a cat I had for 17 years.
And I'm pretty sure Winslow is smiling :)
You painted with both hands at once? I'm am impressed!
ReplyDeleteSilke, I love your work and you have come a long way, .......
ReplyDeletebut you also have a long way to go before you reach Daniel's level.
But then, he's been at it for a lot longer than you have.
No wonder you are the proud wife.
"renewal" is such a wonderful word and a wonderful theme...I sense a "renewal" in your creative spirit - especially if you were painting with both hands at once...brava!!!
ReplyDeleteRenewal what a good word for the new year but I suppose that is why they picked it. Two hands!! That must be very liberating, and how nice to be able to give up the control.
ReplyDeleteA "sketch"? Silke I wish I had your energy. My brain is full of ideas but my hands are too lazy to pick up the brush. I need to do it soon before the image gets fuzzy.
ReplyDeleteShe's really lost in reverie! Beautiful! (A friend from college used to paint with two hands-- it was fascinating to watch-- one brush was for paint and the other was to keep her wash edges wet!)
ReplyDeleteI, too, love the result. Excellent painting. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family!
Greetings from London.
Two fisted! Hahahaha, oh that is great! I love the deep, rich colors in her portrait, Silke. Certainly renews my spirit. :)
ReplyDeleteI like that you painted with both hands at once, that's pretty good. I'll have to try that. :D Have a great week and great painting.
ReplyDeleteHi sweet Silke
ReplyDeleteshe is very beautifull, Ilove all the colors you have used on her, AND the little ponnytail.
Hugs and Love Dorthe
She is so dreamy Silke, like she is in love with the whole world. Her eyes are glowing!
ReplyDeleteJust like you. Your soul shines through your whole face.
Hugs!
Julie
Silke, HAHAHAH! I am so glad you found them because I drew them for ............ YOU!!! HAHAHAHAH!!! I did the hot dogs just before I posted. Yes, the tabloids alright, but remember that they were the first to break John Edward's infidelity while he went around the country posing as a trustworthy candidate because the liberal mainstream media would not touch him. So there are truths in them although I really think it was not Elvis they sighted at the mall last Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh Silke, I forgot to tell you. Sometimes when I oil paint and want to let loose, I paint the faces of my portraits with my left hand. You will notice which ones they are because they have no angles, very fluid and raw.
ReplyDeleteHello my friend..first...your art is amazingly beautiful..you are so taleneted..what a gift you have.....
ReplyDeleteand as far as the 75 degrees goes..... I don't know...it is getting dark and I am sitting here with all the doors and windows wide open...... hmmmmmm
Good to hear from you....
Hugs to you too.....
