Voodoo Lily

Yes, you read correctly ... this is a voodoo lily emerging in our backyard. My good friend Beth decided on her blog that today was Funky Friday, so I thought that this lily would fit the bill. It's also called Stink Lily, which might give you an idea of why I thought it was pretty funky! The flowers are stunning and are said to smell of dead animal to attract flies, which makes it the only plant in our backyard I am hesitant to see flower... Now, if it turns out that it repels mosquitoes, I'll welcome it with an open nose!

In other news, I started working on another pastel piece, this time on a textured board, and will probably have something for show & tell tomorrow. Stay tuned...
