Every evening, the two of them get together to groom each other. First Ramses daintily licks Winslow's head - usually around the eyes and his snout - and then Winslow thoroughly washes Ramses' head with his big, slobbery tongue, taking special care to really clean his ears. The whole procedure can range from super cute to somewhat gross, when at the end Ramses' head is completely soaked.
Here a little video for those cat and dog lovers among you, where we captured Winslow enjoying his nightly facial.
These two were fast friends from the moment we brought Winslow home three years ago as a rambunctious puppy, and somehow (no matter how much mischief they might get into) they manage to make us laugh every day!
Oh, your collage turned out fabulous! I just love it and your pets, omg, how sweet!
ReplyDeleteI'm down to one pet (Mieko, the german shepherd) and I have really be debating getting a cat for company for him. This REALLY makes me want to!
Hugs,
Darla
p.s. thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment ♥
What great pets, they are adorable. What kind of dog is that? I like your collage a lot. We are debating on whether or not to get another dog... it may be a while.
ReplyDeleteHi Darla, I think it all depends on the dog and the cat. Our cat grew up with dogs and when our two very old dogs died, he naturally adopted the new puppy as his own. Your German shepherd might enjoy his very own kittie...
ReplyDeleteHi Mike, Winslow is a good old mutt from the Humane Society. We find they are the best and the healthiest. We think he is part Husky and then maybe boxer? Don't know. What we do know is that he has an amazing disposition and pretty much thinks he's a human... He also has the softest fur ever and LOVES water. Every morning, we have to make sure to keep him out of the bathroom because he loves to take a shower. Getting and training a dog is a lot of work, so I can understand your hesitation - and frankly, I am soooo glad he's out of the puppy stage!;)
ReplyDeleteSo precius with two such friends, and the collage--wonderfull.
ReplyDeleteI love all the background stuff you have done, and the colors are very beautifull.
Hugs~ Dorthe
I love the expressions on Ramses' and Winston Churchill's faces! I can see why you were inspired to use the photo for your collage. How did you do the lettering for "friends forever"?
ReplyDeleteP.S. For those who are wondering, Winston Churchill is my name for Winslow. I think he was actually named after Winslow Homer, wasn't he Silke?
Hi, Beth! :) Yes, he was named after Winslow Homer, because his blue eyes reminded us of some of Homer's watercolors. But at first, we also kept calling him Winston... I did the lettering on the computer, printed it, cut it out, and then painted over it. Pretty simple. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Winston says hi and is wondering when you are coming to visit again?!?
This is fabulous! See our dog and cat get along, as well. There is hope for the world's differences, hee hee. Great post dear. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteOh, goodness so excited about showing the kids the pets, forgot to mention the brilliance of that dedication collage!!! You are completely inspiring. What are the flowers of? Take care dear, off to bed for this sleepy head.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collage and such lovely pets. It is so nice when they get along so sweetly. They look very precious.
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful together, gorgeous pictures - you're very lucky!
ReplyDeleteHi Silke, I love cats and dogs and when they are together as friends much more. They are so cute! I love your collage too! I like the blue eyes of Winslow, I've never seen a dog with blue eyes, curious!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog! Welcome back!
What a lovely and a little unusual friendship between the animals. Nice pictures!
oh so sweet!!! what a cutie pie....great work!
ReplyDeleteOh Silke these photos are priceless. Pets are the best . I had to give me poor Peanut a puppy downer tonight as she so wants to go for a walk and she can not for another 6 weeks . She gets to bouncing around to much when it is evening walk time and she does not understand why we can not go...But she must stay off her knee as much as possible as she is still recovering form her surgery onthe knee .Poor little thing she is knocked and snoring at my feet right now on her tuffet . Hugs Julie

Hi, German Native Silke,
ReplyDeleteI've just popped across after finding your comment on Pictures On My Mind and I like what I found!
Greetings from another German Native over in the UK. I shall return, Auf Wiedersehen.
I just love the black and white photo of Winslow and Ramses.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for them that they do this. That must mean they are really buddies. So often the two species seem determined to kill each other. I really like the looks of your dog as I am a lifetime dog lover and only recently inherited a cat.
ReplyDeleteI got a new blog. If you don't get offended by things like a child's fascination with cuss words or with expressions kids make that moms and pops don't know about, you might get a chuckle out of my new blog, "Bing-it."

They are so cute! A few years ago we adopted a 2-year old cat and a 6 or 7-year old dog within a few weeks of each other. They get along quite well, too, but nothing like this.
ReplyDeleteOMG they're so sweet!!
ReplyDeletehahahha...that's a lot of licking for a little kitty tongue...whereas the other way around, it must be much easier...and somebody else gets very wet indeed...poor kitty...lol.....
