Best Friends

Today is a special day! My best friend from Kindergarten is coming to visit us from Germany for the next week! I am so excited! We've been best friends for 40 years and have never lost touch. Even if we haven't talked in a while, we always have that special connection where we call just at the right moment. Do you know what I mean? Our friendship also extended to our mothers, who were best friends as well. Sadly, they both passed away many years ago. Such friendships are rare and I treasure this one as well as all the other incredible friends I have! I am a very lucky woman!

As to the photos, we are around 10 or 11 in the picture above - I can't believe our mothers let us go out in public like that! Growing up, I was always the short one - well, that changed when I was about 15 and grew a whole lot. The photo below, we took last summer when I was in Germany and we revisited the special places of our childhood.
I can't wait to have a whole week with her to visit, talk, giggle, and get all caught up on life, love and everything else! Here's to good friends!

  1. oh my gosh how sweet! What a wonderful gift to have such a long and wonderful friendship! You both are beautiful!! Enjoy your visit...

  4. How wonderful for you two to have a whole week of girl time! (and I like the gumboots & extra large collar :) Enjoy!

  5. How lucky you are to have such a friend as that. I've lost touch with everyone I knew when I was little. I think that is so neat you are still best friends.

  6. There is nothing in the world like a girlfriend who has known you forever! I am so happy for you, being able to spend such a wonderful week together. Have a lovely time~
