Acrylic painting on 5 x 7 inch wrapped canvas
Well, I didn't set out to paint a self portrait. Actually, in my sketch (yes, I even sketched this first) this was going to be a portrait of a boy. Except that when I painted his eyes, I realized that he looks a good bit like me - a younger me! Definitely not a boy! Do you think so, too?
I really like how the canvas shows through, although it is harder to paint in details or do anything with a pencil on canvas. But I do like the resulting look - very different again. Something has definitely changed with my paintings. Loving it!!!
Thank you so much for your encouragement on my last painting. It is so much fun to share this with you all!!
Silke, It is definitely you!! And it's fabulous! The detail is the best that I've seen of your art so far! :-)
ReplyDeleteShe's wonderful Silke! I see YOU in her, no doubt! It's so fun watching your technique change and grow over the past 2 years. It's a joy to be included in your journey :) Thanks also for your answer regarding the OWOH info. I need to put together a giveaway item and get busy!! Looks fun!
ReplyDeleteAmazing Silke, that is an incredible likeness of yourself and a superb painting...definitely one of your best "women" paintings.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing - and I am in awe of your extreme talent! Thank you so much for sharing with us out here in the blogoshere :)
ReplyDeleteYep, my dear, that is YOU!
ReplyDeleteDo you realize how much you have grown and moved forward in a short amount of time with your work? It is fun to see the progress.
I like the stark look of unfilled canvas~~many times those turn out to be the best ones. They just have that extra something....

Oh WOW! It's YOU! Definitely, most definitely NOT a boy! Very beautiful, and I love the blue hues on the right side.
ReplyDeleteTo make it a true self portrait, however, perhaps you should add a great big cuppa. Or a yummy pastry. Mmmmmmm ;D
ReplyDeleteDefinitely looks like you! I am so impressed with all of your artwork posted on this blog . . . just haven't told you so lately.

ReplyDeleteYes! It really does look like you. I sometimes end up drawing myself even when I'm trying not to! I expect it's because it's the face I'm the most familiar with? I don't know! xx
ReplyDeleteThe energy shifts continue -- how exciting! This is a lovely piece. I guess I've always thought they were all self-portraits in a way. It seems to me that you use your art as a way to explore yourself.
