Self Portrait

Self Portrait
Acrylic painting on 5 x 7 inch wrapped canvas

Well, I didn't set out to paint a self portrait. Actually, in my sketch (yes, I even sketched this first) this was going to be a portrait of a boy. Except that when I painted his eyes, I realized that he looks a good bit like me - a younger me! Definitely not a boy! Do you think so, too?

I really like how the canvas shows through, although it is harder to paint in details or do anything with a pencil on canvas. But I do like the resulting look - very different again. Something has definitely changed with my paintings. Loving it!!!

Thank you so much for your encouragement on my last painting. It is so much fun to share this with you all!!

  6. Yep, my dear, that is YOU!
Do you realize how much you have grown and moved forward in a short amount of time with your work? It is fun to see the progress.
I like the stark look of unfilled canvas~~many times those turn out to be the best ones. They just have that extra something....

    XXOO~~♥

  18. To make it a true self portrait, however, perhaps you should add a great big cuppa. Or a yummy pastry. Mmmmmmm ;D

  22. Yes! It really does look like you. I sometimes end up drawing myself even when I'm trying not to! I expect it's because it's the face I'm the most familiar with? I don't know! xx
