...in my day! I have had an overwhelm sort of day today...and yesterday...and the day before. And it seems like it's all in my mind (isn't that often how it is?). And what happens to my mind then is that it starts to flit about.
I start something, think of something else, start that, forget the first thing, etc. So, these days, you might find a half-made bed, a forgotten load of laundry, or a dishwasher only half emptied at our house. None of that is a big deal except that it robs me of my peace of mind and wastes a lot of time and energy trying to remember what to do.
So, today, I resorted to making lists and writing things down. What a relief! It freed up my mind enough to actually go to my studio to start working on another piece. It's not yet to the point of showing it to you all, but instead I want to show you what came in the mail today, all the way from England. It made my day!!!
A little while ago, I won one of the giveaways from Micki at The Art Hermit. It is so beautiful!!And take a look at that clasp - a fish with a starfish, closing with a wave. How cool is that?!? I wore it all day today! Thank you, Micki!
This afternoon, I had more fun taking pictures of some of my scarves for my Etsy shop.
Ok, a little weird story from the other day (related to my scarves)... Those who know me know that I dream a LOT at night. Every night, many dreams. It's like my own personal movie theater and (luckily) never a nightmare. Well, the other night I had a very vivid dream that Daniel and I lived in this opulent apartment in Venice in one of the old houses. The next morning, I got up and checked my eBay store and saw that I had sold a scarf to a woman in Venice, my first international sale! Nice coincidence ... or was it? She promptly bought a second one and tomorrow they are going to Italy! Fun, huh?
I will definitely have more art for you to see in my next post. For now, I am off to visit some your lovely blogs. And if I haven't visited you lately, don't worry, I'll be back! In the meantime, thank you for coming to see me!
Silke, I so relate to that being scattered thing that happens when we get so busy! Summer is often like that with so many people coming and going! And how about that scarf sale! Love how that happened! And I LOVE the scarves...the colors and textures are scrumptious! Thanks for sharing it all! xo
ReplyDeleteYou are a busy woman with many talents, Silke! That is so cool about your Venice dream and your Venice sale! Now concentrate... and tonight's dream will be... "Annette wins the Lottery...Annette wins the Lottery..." Go on now, Con-cen-trate!
ReplyDeleteHi Silke!!!
ReplyDeleteI get to the point where I write a list of things to get done too...it saves me every time....especially with deadlines and things I want to accomplish around here.....
Your scarves are amazing!!! WOWW!!!!
I also think you must be pretty lucky to win all these great gifts from blog friends!!!

Hugs
Diana
Hi Silke!
ReplyDeleteThe Venice dream is cool! I love stories like that!
Your scarves are fabulous, by the way! It's no wonder they're selling well for you :)
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment! And to answer your question, I did use watercolors and some acrylics :)
♥♥Darla
Congrats on your sale to Venice, so cool!! And I love the part about your dream of Venice.
ReplyDeleteHi Silke!
ReplyDeleteFirst, those scarves are gorgeous! Just gorgeous!
Second, I get that flitty monkey mind too. Sometimes the only thing that will help is a list. Then I just let the list be the boss of me for a while. :)
I love this post Silke and I can completely relate! I just did that last night...went to bed with a load of towels in the laundry, with every intention to get them in the dryer before i fell asleep - no such luck!! so rewash and redo today! Oh well...not the end of the world!
ReplyDeleteAnd...I ABSOLUTELY L.O.V.E. your dream about Venice and having two sales the next day being shipped to Italy - amazing how our universe and subconscious minds work together! l.o.v.e. it!!
I love that necklace! Yes, you're right, the clasp is very beautiful. And I adore yoru scarves, even though the bloke inside would recoil at wearing them :-).
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Not enough hours, indeed!! And you made time to visit SparkleMirror several times... Well, I'm now making time for yours...
ReplyDeleteI've learned to live with that lack of peace in my quest for ever new projects, juggling several things at once... but I would give my right arm (ok, maybe my left) to have an organized life. I think it would give me much psychic peace. Making lists and writing things down -- I'm afraid I'd be in shock of what I saw on the paper, leaving me frozen and unable to accomplish anything (yea, that's my mind).
I love that bracelet by Micki at the Art Hermit (that would describe me).
Hurray! on your Etsy shop!!! Alright, I have to get on the ball now. I am very impressed with your very creative scarf photos -- I think we are very much alike!
David
I totally understand the dream. I dream a lot too and the person in my dream usually has done something that when I wake up i know or see what they have done. Yes, we need more hours during the day! Congratulations on your win. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you figured out how to be still, it is a very common thing with me, as well. I know it is because we are capable of so many things and ideas and kindnesses that we get vertigo. So, blessings, dear. You are so on about dreams, I get dreams that blow me away, too. Maybe it is because of an open heart, I don't know? All light to you, Amy
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the scatterbrained feeling! I want my normal life back!!
ReplyDeleteLove the scarves... so gorgeous!
From the posts, it's obvious that a lot of people share your feelings about not having enough time to do all we want to do. I hope we all can remember to take time to have fun! Life is supposed to be fun. My new thing is to try to enjoy whatever I'm doing at the moment, even if it's something mundane such as washing dishes. I'll let you know how that goes... :]
ReplyDeleteHey Renee,
ReplyDeleteYour scarves are wonderful. Colorz, and Colorz. 'So, "Happy-Making."
I'm 66 years old, so I am very familiar with lists, and they're worth. Now I'm afraid I'll start forgetting where the lists are. I hope there's a pill for that. I'd trade my cholseterol meds for them.
Love

Gorgeous scarves. I too dream what seems like constantly - mine aren't always so positive though!!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful about Venice - I've only been once many years ago (16 I think!) - I had a lovely surprise - because Andrew asked me to marry him whilst we were there - many happy memories!!
I know how you feel! but these crazy days do pass. Just be sure to make time for you!~
ReplyDeleteHi, everyone, and thank you for your very comforting comments! It's so good to know that I am not alone with my fluttering mind... Today was a much better day already with time for art and knitting! And nice, that some of you have the same kinds of dreams I have. Very fun! You have no idea how much I appreciate your support, especially on a day like yesterday!! Hugs, Silke
ReplyDeleteHi Silke!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to read that you are having a better day today! You are definitely no alone, along with the others who commented, many of my days are like this, too. (Yesterday was like that for me, too - otherwise I would have commented sooner!) That's the time to step back and take a deep breath and just do what's essential. Everything else will wait.
That's so wonderful about your dream and the etsy sales. I'm so happy for you!
Hugs,
Angela
i have that same sort of synchronicity with dreams as well
