Here she is and I am so excited about her. This again was born out of a process that is so entirely new and fascinating to me. I did the background rather quickly and then let it sit overnight. I had it propped up on a chair in my little studio and when I went upstairs later in the evening and turned on the light in the hallway, I saw this lovely woman in the background. At first I thought that she looked too difficult for me to paint (especially the face), but once I got started I loved seeing her blossom...
The painting is on an 8x24 in. canvas and a mixture of paper collage, image transfer and acrylic paint.
I still need to tweak a couple of little things, paint the sides and varnish it, but I just had to post her already. I'll add another photo once she's all the way done!
I just entered this in the Mix It Up With Melange weekly mixed media challenge, which this week is "fly."
Very inspiring and beautiful painting. I like it very very much!! Kisses.
ReplyDeleteHey Silke, she is lovely - I love the 'whimsy' of this painting - great job - the painting is so dreamy to me! Val xxx
ReplyDeleteWell, we are so glad that you did. She is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel GREAT to be inspired and create a work of art that you absolutely love?
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and leaving a wonderful comment. I'm trying to work up the courage to post about my artwork... I don't know why I'm struggling with it... I guess because art is so "personal" and I feel vulnerable when I put it out there. I'm a-ramblin'! Thanks for visiting!
She is beautiful Silke! I love the colors - bravo!!!!! I hope you win the challenge!!
ReplyDeleteYou must be so happy with this piece...it's a delight...so original....would love to have her hanging on my wall...

ReplyDeleteThis piece is wonderful. I tried to see something in the canvas but had no idea she was hidden there. The birds are great, they are some of my favorite creatures. Again a wonderful painting.
ReplyDeleteSilke, sie ist wunderschoen!!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece, and I love the image transfer. I'm still having a problem with that. Just amazing.
I love that feeling when you know you have it and you are giving her life! Wonderful! There is nothing like it and that great feeling shows in your art!
ReplyDeleteSilke that is beautiful. Really, really gorgeous! Wonderful job! :)
ReplyDeletegood morn...
ReplyDeleteI love her...
When I looked at your post last night I was struck with the familiarity of the image. It so reminded me of someone. Finally it came to me this morning. Your beautiful image brings to mind the lovely and wise Elf Queen Galadriel, played by Cate Blanchett in Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings Trilogy". Some of my favorite books growing up.
ReplyDeleteAuuuuuughhhhhhh! I didn't think I would find one I loved more. But, she is by far my favorite. I love everything about her...her face, the blossem she is coming out of, the birds. Oh, you are Monet!!!!!

ReplyDeleteMarvelous!!! I love the way she is rising up from the tulip and I love the serenity about her. The bird cage and the birds and all the other details. Did you paint all of these or did you transfer them? Great job!!!
I love when it's about the process of creation. She's unique & gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone for your very kind comments! It's a joy to read every one of them.
ReplyDeleteNow, to respond to a couple of you specifically,
Mr. H. thanks for comparing her to the beautiful Galadriel. She was one of my favorite characters in the trilogy. I wasn't thinking of her while painting, but there's definitely something elvin about her...
Raina, some of the little details are from the paper I used as the background under the acrylic paint, some are transfers (I so love doing those) and some are cutouts that are glued on.
Renate, I am having the best time with image transfers. Let me know if I can help in any way. There are some great youtube videos out there on the topic!
Annette, don't be shy - when you start putting your art "out there," you will find that this is one extremely supportive community!
To everyone else - thank you, thank you, thank you!!
:) Silke
Can she come live with me? She is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteShall we trade? Would you consider? Oh, she is so very faery and every detail, divine.
I understand if she cannot leave, hee hee. Just know she is welcome here, lol. You amaze.
