I am having fun, fun, fun with my art journal! Turns out I enjoy journaling without words... The perfect place to experiment. Here something completely different from what I've done so far. Love it!!
On the first layer of gesso I had done a gel medium image transfer. Well, the gel medium was sort of dry and the image didn't transfer correctly, but it still gave me great background texture.
Thanks for coming along with me on my journaling journey and for all your very appreciated comments on my angels yesterday! I should have more art to show you tomorrow...
I really, really, really like this bird!! Can you scan & create print for your Etsy shop? I think it needs to fly over there!
ReplyDeleteLove the bird and the layers are wonderful. I looked at the picture enlarged and it was beautiful. This work is good for your soul.

I love birds, and your bird is lovely, Silke! Nice work :-)
ReplyDeletei blew this up silke and i love everything about it: the lines, the circles, a bird that is pink and blue with a yellow orange tail. (first i typed in 'tale' and it is a tale, actually). this tells a story without the need for words and i know that is what you hoped to achieve so yay! yay!
ReplyDeleteyou are experimenting inside and out. makes me happy

I love the bird imagery -- as though you are taking off in a different direction with your art. Simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome piece, Silke. Seems the fact that you are journaling has set you free...

ReplyDeleteMorning Silke! I love this..the bird captures my heart completely..again I love this color energy you are creating with..the bird has such a pure essence I am super drawn to. I have an affinity for birds..so i love this..and this sweet creature is shining with such purity and joy..and to me feels like an enchanted guardian and calls out my inner child to fly with a strong spirit! Thanks for sharing your magic!

The fun thing about the image transfers that don't work is they really do give you an interesting base for something else altogether! Did you find working on it a little different than the regular gesso base?
ReplyDeleteI love this bird painting/sketch~~much happiness going on! It is obvious you are enjoying your sketchbook.
BRAVA Silke!
XXOO~~♥
