Taking Off
Mixed media painting on 11 x 14 inch wrapped canvas.
Do you remember my duck painting from here? Well, it obviously was nowhere close to being finished. I used to ask Daniel how he knew if a painting was finished and he used to tell me that you just know. And he's right. This one stayed on my mind and I needed to play with it some more.
I totally love the texture and composition of this latest version. I look at it and keep seeing different things. And the gold... I don't think you can see it all. Some of it is gold watercolor powder, plus some of the fiber paper contains thin gold strips. So pretty!! My old love of paper and color is taking a new form...
Now I am off on a little jaunt through blogland. Hope to see you there...
SO pretty Silke...I really love this!!!
ReplyDeleteThe textures are great...and the colours really are in harmony with eachother.

ReplyDeleteI can still see the duck too! He looks like he's hurrying through a blue confetti party! LOL

ReplyDeleteHi Silke! I haven't stopped by to visit you in a long while and here is this amazing new artwork to greet me! Just dazzling! And your hubby is an illustrator? What a creative couple you are. :) xox!
ReplyDeleteAmazing how much this changed from the piece it was before! (and that one was good too)
ReplyDeleteI'll bet this is just lush to see in person--touch all that texture and see the tiny bits of gold reflect light. The lighter blue paper seems to float atop the red; very nice visual play!
Brava Silke!!!

I completely understand how the mind sorts colors when it needs them. That happens to me alot and it fun when I notice like now I have my Riverside Shakespeare with browns, greens, etc. and moss, nest and chocolates and velvet bits and well, you get it. I find I yearn for colors, too. Especially in winter. Maybe yours are reflecting landscapes of the mind. Blessings friend. Merry days.
