Time For a Little Art!

Yesterday, I finally had one hour with nothing planned and I promptly went up to my studio and painted this woman. I've prepared a few 5 x 7 pieces of acrylic paper with gesso so I can do little paintings like this when I have just a little bit of time.

I love how tender she looks. When I told Daniel that I didn't know why she looks so sad, his prompt response was: "Well, of course she looks sad - Christmas is over!"

I've also started a large painting, which I haven't done in a few months. Very excited about that!!

Did you all have a wonderful holiday? Ours was filled with good friends, family, delicious food (way too much of it), cookies, pastries and dessert, thoughtful gifts, laughter, and most of all gratitude for all the goodness in our life! Of that goodness you are a big part! Thank you!!

  2. Ho pleasant that you can immerse yourself in your art whenever the muse strikes you!

I agree about the wonderful Christmas food, there's always far too much of it and I am looking forward to eating more simply again.

Have a wonderful, art and happiness filled New Year, dear Silke!

  3. The best part of Christmas is how quiet it feels...how it is one day in the year where the outside world is removed and we feel so insular...I love it!!

Glad you've found some time to paint...to make use of those free hours in a way that touches your soul!

  4. Darling Silke I received a beautiful painting and an unbelieveable scarf in a treasure box of Christmas gifts.

Oh Silke how can I tell you how much they mean to me. The picture is beautiful and Nadalene wants it.

    Thank you so much.

I am happy that we have become such great friends. To us darling.

    Love Renee xoxoxo

  5. Daniel is a very wise (and handsome) man. That is my expression on evenings after Christmas, as a wander about the house looking over the decorations, old ornaments, and beloved photos. But then, perhaps if we did not put them away for a year, they might not keep their near-Holy status... **kisskiss** Deb

  6. Your lady does look a bit perplexed so maybe Daniel is right. She is thinking to herself, How did Christmas go by so fast? That's kind of how I am feeling but not in a sad way. :]

  10. Your new work is pretty! She does look rather pensive, as if she is deep in thought. I'm happy to hear that you had a lovely holiday - we celebrated with family and much, much food! :) Still enjoying leftovers. Have a great day! Theresa
