But something went terribly wrong and they first lost their beautiful shape and became totally flat and then refused to come off the cookie sheet, although I followed all instructions. So, instead of looking like in the picture above, they looked like this - a heap of broken wafers. Tasty, but not fit to take to the neighbors as was my plan!
I was not happy, but creative Daniel came to the rescue and suggested we break them into small pieces, stir them into melted chocolate and then make little chocolate/cookie heaps and let them cool. You can see the result in the picture below - not only do they look fine, but they taste great!! We paired them with a few other cookies and had a nice assortment to give to all our wonderful neighbors!
In the words of my good friend, Beth: "Chocolate cures all problems!!" Actually the same could be said for cookies in general...

Wishing you delicious treats this Holiday season!!
I did say that, and I'm sticking by words! That's a very lovely cookie tray that anyone would be lucky to receive. I got some cookies in the mail yesterday ~ very yummy!
ReplyDeleteYummy... These cookies look good to me and even better, now you have added chocolate. I wish I was your neighbor Silke. You are really spoiling them with these Christmas delights!;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays to you and Daniel.

Chocolate fixes most everything, I'm a firm believer in that.I'm sure your neighbors would appreciate anything you brought over-remember it is the thought that counts. But just the same, your cookie dish looked lovely.
ReplyDeleteThese all look delicious :)
ReplyDeleteSilke, those look wonderful. Cookies are my one true weakness...I can't stop eating them if they are hand made and have real butter in them!! Oh, I'm so hungry now for a cookie! Will have to raid the fridge to see what darling hubby might have for me!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kelly

ReplyDeleteAaw Silke! You do have all the talent and more! We just have different styles and you are very humble and kind. I hate doing laundry :) I love chocolate babka. And I can't bake cookies just brownies and pie.
Oh darling you have been busy !! Yummy ! . Wish I had some of those cookies right now but I think I will make me some hot chocolate with real whipped cream on top!
ReplyDeletemmm..they look delicious to me and what is important is how they taste not how they look...
ReplyDeleteYou gotta love a husband that gives you help when you need it! Good for Daniel!! Although I thought the cookies looked fine - like cookies!:) More important is how they taste. Anyway, who can resist chocolate? Your neighbours are so lucky!
ReplyDeleteHi Silke! So glad your cookies turned out the way you wanted to share them with your neighbors. They must have loved them. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!
Hugs,
Lisa :)
Hi Silke, received your wonderful scarfs today. They are so beautifully wrapped have placed them under the Christmas tree. Love the cards also and the picture on them is one of my favorite paintings of yours too. The post man was knocking on my door at 8 am this morning, what a great beginning to the day.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Silke! Hoping you receive your gift soon also!
Hugs!
Julie

Well, everyone, you were too kind about the cookies and I wish I could bring each of you a plate of them! Wouldn't it be fun to share them all with each other?! Here's wishing for tasty cookies in your lives! Love, Silke
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Keep that man!
ReplyDeleteAAAH! These are the famous cookies I heard about! I have to tell you, Silke, even the flat ones look really delectable. They look like sugar cookies. Yummmm. But with chocolate added? That was a stroke of genius. It's pretty clear, you make a brilliant team.
ReplyDeleteAnd your beautiful tree and ornaments. Your house is so festive. I love all the German trinkets and decorations. Your hometown is a fairytale. I wish I were there to do some shopping in the snow.
Have a very merry Christmas, Silke & Daniel!
I say the same ... everything goes better with chocolate!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Silke !!
