Cold, cold, cold!

We are in the middle of a cold snap, which is not quite normal here. Yesterday it barely got above freezing all day and this morning it was COLD with an even colder wind. It's Winslow's favorite weather with that thick fur of his...

I had to laugh at this photo of me all bundled up with a palm tree in the background. Looks wrong somehow, doesn't it?
There was even a thin layer of ice on some of the water in the ditches.
We did see a large herd of deer when we were driving in. I counted about 20 of them and they did not care that we were watching them.
Not at all. Just look at this male with the nice antlers. I counted about five males. Beautiful!
We also saw a big freighter making it's way from the Savannah port to the ocean. They all pass by Fort Pulaski, where we love to walk.
This snowy egret was just posing too perfectly not to take a quick photo. What a beauty! (You can click on the photos to see them bigger I think).
Now we are back home where it's warm and cozy and that's where I'm staying for the rest of the day. I hope you are all having a great Saturday!!

  4. I do hope that the untypical cold does not present too much of a problem to flora and fauna in your area, Silke.
Listening to the birds here, I worry that they think it is already spring with the mild days we've been having for most of December and the first few days of January. I hope they won't be affected too badly when the cold will set in eventually.

  7. Hallo Silke,
Ich hab es schon im Fernsehen gesehen, dass große Teile der USA in Schnee und Kälte versinken.
Ich hoffe ihr bleibt von der ganz großen Kältewelle verschont
