Runaway Day...
Do you ever have a day that just sort of takes off in its own direction no matter how well you had everything planned? That's what happened to me today. It's not that it was a bad day or that I didn't get anything done. Actually, it was a great day - I connected with friends, ran some errands, and even organized my desk (long overdue). But what I hadn't done was paint! So, at six this evening I decided to go to my studio for an hour before making dinner. I actually finished the little present I am working on (will show you soon) and started on a new piece, which I should be able to post by Saturday the latest.
For dinner, I made our delicious "standard" salad, which always changes a little bit depending on what we have in the fridge and pantry. Tonight I made it with organic romaine lettuce and some leftover lettuce from the garden (I think this was the last of it as the weather is getting really hot), and added an apple, green onion, cilantro, blue cheese, walnuts, dried cranberries and our wonderful homemade salad dressing. I brushed some whole wheat pita bread with olive oil, sprinkled it with sea salt and broiled it until it was crispy. And, voila! The perfect dinner at the end of a runaway day!
