Yesterday, after playing with paint, papers and lots of water (I'll have something to show you soon!), I looked at my hands and had to laugh at how much I've changed.
When I was in school and learned to write, we had to use fountain pens. Invariably, my hands would become ink stained and I did NOT like it. Not one bit!
Amazing how things can change...
P.S. Today, I am going to a presentation on "Color, Pigments, Mud, Dirt, Micas, Iridescence and Nacreous Shimmer...Expand your Knowledge of Color Mixing" by Mark Golden (as in Golden Acrylics). I am so excited!! Especially painting with mud and dirt sounds very intriguing.
This is all part of the yearly Art Materials Trade Show organized by the Savannah College of Art and Design. If you live in the area, it is definitely worth going to - all the major art materials distributers (click here for details) will be there offering supplies at huge discounts.
ReplyDeleteEs kribbelt jetzt richtig in meinen Händen :-)
Liebste Grüße in Deinen Tag hinein und viel Freude heute,Du wirst sicher sehr iunspiriert zurückkehren ♥
♥lichst, woman
Love the messy hands. ♥
ReplyDeleteI still really struggle with getting them messy! I have some baby wipes right next to me when I paint and especially when I am using any sort of sticky gel!
The presentation sounds fascinating (and sticky! :))
Oooh, would love to join you at the presentation, Silke! The Nigerians use mud to paint with on animal skins or woven jute to wonderful effect. I'll try and find a picture to show you.
ReplyDeleteI think painty hands are satisfying...shows you've been absorbed in your art!
Looks like Savannah is once again the place to be today!! Well, have fun playing in the mud!! ^_^ Can't wait to see what road this leads you down!!
ReplyDeleteLove the messy hands! I have them quite often myself :)
ReplyDelete~proof that your day was filled with creative fun! wish i too were close in the area...sounds interesting! mud...hhhmmm...what wonders could one make!?! wishing you well and blessings always upon you~
ReplyDeleteHah! Dirty hands, busy mind, full heart. Art is wonderful. How many times have I gone to work, all showered and dressed up with embedded oil paint pigment on the beds of my fingernails and oil paints on my hair?
ReplyDeleteI used to throw away dress shirts ruined by paint stains, now I proudly wear them.
Have a wonderful day creating Silke. I still have not fully returned to blogging. I post in self defense. HAHAHAHAH! Soon, soon, balance will reign, praying praying writing rules all over the place at work, projects projects, meetings mettings, exercise, new regimen, stress, crisis, moving, deadlines. Ah TO LIFE, To LIFE! L'Chaim, to life!
pretty hands!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds indeed intruiging. I'd love to be there. I know you'll enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI remember those fountain pens too and
did you ever go blueberry picking with your family in the woods and returning with blue hands and mouth - and the blue hands would have to wear off because it would not wash?
Ah Silke, you will LOVE that presentation!!! As far as the mediums, I have several of the micas I have had no time to experiment with since purchasing them. They sit and wait...
ReplyDeleteMaybe they will have free samples!! :D (hey, always thinking,.....)
I love Golden in that they have allowed their employees to purchase stock and they now are owned by their workers, and the quality of work has improved even more than before. Ethical company---love-love-love them!
Have a wonderous time, oh Sisterfriend of the Dirty Hands!
TSUP~~♥
Anne

Freue mich schon auf Deinen Bericht - viel Spaß!
ReplyDeletethings change when you get older...but I am still a bit compulsive about things like that.
ReplyDeleteBut did you have any paint on your face, Silke? Sounds like you are going to have a wonderful day. Enjoy! **kisses** Deb
ReplyDeleteI have seen my hands that messy plenty of times! But it's a GOOD messy! Enjoy the presentation today - sounds like fun! Theresa
ReplyDeleteHi dear one! I needed to pop in and say "hello"-so lovely to see your hands at work and I am looking forward to seeing the loveliness you will present...
ReplyDeletewonderful to see you all in paint!!! that is passion Silke!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat messy hands!! Hope the presentation goes well!! xo
ReplyDeleteI came to the realization not too long ago that a part of my creative block is because I am too organized, neat, and clean. I still cringe when I get a spot of paint of my hand, or glue dried on my fingers. I think it is time to change my paradigm and view these markings as "happy" hands and not messes.
