A Morning in Savannah

Yesterday, we both needed some art supplies, so we decided to make a morning of it starting with a coffee (and our books) at our favorite cafe in Savannah. I was so glad I had taken the camera with me. The grand live oak trees are so magnificent and beckon me every time to take their picture.
I loved the assortment of glass bottles and containers inside the cafe. The photo is slightly out of focus, but I still liked the way it looked. (Click on any of the photos to see them larger.)

I saw this little soda dispenser at a new antique mall we discovered.
On the way back to the car, Daniel thought we should take a look at a new hotel that opened right on the river with a rooftop bar. What a place and just look at that view! We'll definitely go there one evening when the weather is a little cooler.
I loved the driftwood sculptures that were actually lights (I think).
And the chandeliers were all made from oyster shells - usually I don't like that too much, but in that setting they looked really modern and the design was great!
Thanks for strolling along with us! Tomorrow, I'll have some more stunning photos Daniel took in our garden today. Plus, I am working on some more art and will have something to show soon!!

Wishing you all a great start into the new week!

  1. I just love those trees... they have a lovely feeling about them even in photos, I can't imagine what they would be like in real life... and I love the photo of all the little bottles, I think the fuzzyness makes it better.

  4. Those mossy trees are really something else! Though they make me think of spooky movies for some reason... sends chills up and down my spine. But I do love the cafe scene with the glass bottles and containers, and yes, I agree that the slight out-of-focus nature of the first adds charm and interest to the photo (great minds think alike). And I too love the driftwood... and lights might not be a bad idea, or someone could lose an eye at night... ouch ;O
    Thanks Silke!

  11. I love trees, and your live oaks are spectacular. I've always wondered why they were called live oaks, and a quick Internet search suggests it is because they are nearly evergreen and remain green throughout the winter when other oaks drop their leaves and appear dead looking.

I want to visit the antique malls & rooftop bar!

  19. thank you for coming over to my little corner of the world. I'm so glad to make it by yours. And Savannah??? I adore Savannah. Some of my fondest memories are of the last vacation I took with my mother before she passed. It was to Savannah. Now swear to me you've had cupcakes from Back in the Day Bakery.
