So...

... you probably noticed I hadn't painted in over a week. Instead I cleaned, I organized, I put away, and I weeded out.

All the while feeling that the same process was happening in my brain and my thoughts. I had a feeling that when I would paint again, I would have assimilated something new to express. And I wasn't wrong.
This afternoon, in only 30 minutes of very intuitive painting, Sabrina was created. She's actually based on a photo of me as a child, but doesn't look anything like it in the end. I painted with brushes and my fingers, I used a color palette that's quite unusual for me, and a style that makes my heart beat a little bit faster.

I am going to sit with it for a while, but had to share it with you already. Maybe she'll change, maybe not. Maybe I'll put her in my Etsy store eventually, but at the moment I am strangely attached.

I hope you had a beautiful day!

  3. Sabrina is very beautiful! I am in the same mode...spring cleaning...and it feels so good. I have company so it's hard to stop to create when it takes more energy having others around!! Your painting is so pretty, looks like she is soaking up the nice weather. The colors are vibrant yet soft!! Great work!

  4. Silke,
This is my favorite by far!!!! I love the semi-abstract feel of this, the color scheme, the free feeling of the brush strokes, the expression on her face. I really really like it.
Your bird watching and flower gazing must have given you a sense of feeling free, and it transferred into your work. I like this style very much.
I've been down and out with a bad cold and hope it is on the way out. Spring colds are the worst!
    Take care, Silke.
