I don't know what it is about fall, but it makes me so aware of the beautiful small moments in my life. Maybe it's the way the autumn sun makes everything look golden, or the anticipation of a slower season, or maybe it's just that it is such a relief to have cooler temperatures again. Whatever it is, here are yesterdays moments to savor:
knitting on Daniel's sweater and reading food magazines: getting ready for soup, stew and roast season |
getting to wear socks again |
late afternoon sunlight on the plants outside |
dogwood leaves changing color |
a gorgeous crape myrtle leaf |
our blueberry bush getting ready for winter |
delicious kumquats starting to ripen |
hydrangea flowers still blooming |
*sigh* |
I so appreciate your visits and your friendships!!
Me too, yesterday I savored the sun all day...every last ray, because I knew it would be rainng the next several days and it is. Happy fall.:) Nice socks.:)
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of the hydrangeas! such beautiful colors they turn!
ReplyDeleteThis is a magical time of year, the long shadows, the golden colours. We've had the most outrageous weather here recently and I was walking barefoot on the beach on Sunday!I must say it was a weird sensation to have hot sun and look at the trees losing their leaves all on the same day! :)

Hello Silke! I have enjoyed reading your posts. Oh my! You have been busy and creative. What is it about Autumn that I love so much? For starters, the words Autumn is a beautiful word and I love the look of the bare trees and the leaves on the ground. Ah I am now inspired to draw Autumn. Have a great day. Tsup!
ReplyDeleteHi Silke, I even turned on the heat this morning! I like the look of Daniel's sweater too. Thanks for posting the etching photos and describing the process, it looks fascinating, M
ReplyDeleteI had to run to town early this morning for errands and it was beautiful~~~a layer of fog lifted over the fields, the trees with great splotches of color so bright, sun pouring through the damp and making everything look magical.
ReplyDeleteFall is that wondrous in between time when life has one last show of the brightest petticoats before it curls up to slumber for the coming Winter.
Marvelous....you captured the feel *just perfect*!!!
XXOO~~♥

So schöne Fotos Silke! Ich mag den Herbst auch so gerne!
ReplyDeleteNow that's what I call moments to savor...Yarn, Needles, and Plants and Flowers! :-) I'm not with you on the socks thing!....NO! My hormones and socks....together?! It does not compute!! LOL Have a good day Silke.
ReplyDeleteI love Autumn my dear, one of my most favourite times. Dark nights, cosiness and having my family close around me whilst we share warming meals together. Perfect. xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful post. I enjoy going for walks in the fall and savouring all the gorgeous colours. Love the sweater you are knitting.
ReplyDeleteLiebe Silke,
ReplyDeletewir freuen uns über diese prächtigen Fotos.

Lovely post Silke! Thank you for sharing those beautiful moments! :)
ReplyDeletewell! silke, you have escorted me fully into fall! i will walk in my yard tomorrow and pretty much see what you see. i am enthralled by how hydrangeas turn pink and purple and how every leaf has its own brilliance. not to sound morbid, but i can't help thinking that this is the process of shutting down, of dying. maybe this is something the universe wants to make sure we understand.
ReplyDeletelast: oh those socks! i'm wearing them too, though not as homegrown and lovely as yours.
happy autumn silke. keep your eyes wide open. i know you will.
love

Those are indeed some moments to savor. I've loved putting my socks back on! There's nothing like warm fuzzy socks. And I am anxiously watching a mini pumpkin growing in the yard...I SO can't wait to pluck it and use it for decor!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty photos, Silke. Thank you for sharing them and your thoughts on this beautiful time of the year.
