A Surprise!

On Sunday, Daniel, Winslow and I drove to the Savannah River for a nice walk on the trail alongside it. We've been there many times, yet every time it strikes me as so beautiful and new that I come home with lots of photos. This time as well and I'll share more of them in later posts...
On our way there, I was thinking how we hadn't been to the beach in a quite a while and how I missed seeing the dolphins. So, imagine my surprise when I suddenly heard a dolphin breathe next to us, looked over at the river and saw that a couple of them were "walking" with us. No matter how often I see them, it's still magical every single time!!

Thank you so much for your visits and your sweet comments on Daniel's books! I am busy, busy this week as we are getting ready for a family visit and then some time away. But I hope to visit your blogs this week sometime...

  1. How wonderful!!! Living in the midwest, I obviously don't get to see dolphins so I would be giddy beyond compare!! ha!
I saw some from a distance when I was in Virginia Beach once! It was so far they looked black but I was still thrilled!
Take care and enjoy the family when they come to visit!

  2. What? There are rivers with dolphins living freely in them and you can go near them? I had no idea. I've never seen a dolphin in person before.

Why didn't you take more photos! Haha.

  5. I agree, dolphins are magical.
We were in Anchorage, AK recently overlooking Cook Inlet at our friend's office. My husband asked if he ever saw any whales while he was working and he hadn't for over 3 months and suddenly we saw bunches of them. I don't know if it was coincidence or not because they were filming "Everbody Loves Whales" there then. Then we went to another friends house in Kenai and got to view some dolphins there and they rarely see them there too.

  9. I was looking at your photo before I read the text and I thought, that looks like a dolphin! Wow, imagine that, you are so lucky to have these so close by. I got to swim in the wild ocean with dolphins once and it was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. I can still see them in my minds eye, looking at me as I looked at them. Magical. Thank you for sharing your experience and causing me to recall mine.

  10. Oh I love watching graceful dolphins. Sometimes in the early morning - when we are at the condo in Florida - I will sit on the balcony and watch the dolphins play in the ocean - such a calming and lovely way to start the day.

Your photos are wonderful - so glad you are enjoying the wonderful weather. Here - those beautiful days are gone - rainy, yucky, cold~~

  11. That is magical. I saw dolphins once, long ago, in the Mediterranean sea, under a full moon. I will never forget the sight.

  16. I love the mystery of dolphins. They seem almost spiritual to me. What a magical stroll you and Daniel had. Actually, what a magical life you have made for yourself. Good Job, oh Beautiful One.
