Illustration Friday - Flying
I thought I'd enter this very put together woman in this week's Illustration Friday topic of "flying." I painted her on an 8 x 10 canvas that I textured very heavily with light molding paste. I love the tactile quality of some of my paintings!
What's not very well visible on the scan are all the metallic colors I used, especially in the patterned background - gold, silver, bronze and pearly white. Really gives it a great shimmer.
I've been painting quite a bit and am looking forward to sharing more of my my creations with you this week!
If this dreaming woman speaks to you, she's available in my Etsy shop!

Hello Dear Silke, thank you so much for the lovely blog award, how wonderful that you thought of me - it's very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful painting too, we keep my painting where we both create, I find her very inspirational, because one day I won't just be dreaming about dancing xxx

It is so amazing to not only view but to touch art. I love the feel of even a drawing. You did a wonderful job of adding both texture and beauty. I love the concept you gave her too. I love the dreaming ideal as I to wish to fly away some times.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful painting, Silke! I love her expression!

ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful Silke! I love the pearls around her neck...such a "prim" lady -- she does what is expected of her every day...but at night she dreams of flying....how fabulous!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have done a thank-you post for you my dear dear friend. How grateful I am to you. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteshe's fabulous, silke!! and i just love the sentiment under the photo....i wonder how many of us do what's expected of us by day, and dream of flying by night! xoxo, :))

ReplyDeleteSilke she is lovely. Makes me what to get out my paints.
ReplyDeletei like hearing that you have been painting a lot recently - what a joy that is
ReplyDeleteshe is lovely, as are the words about her (dreams and flying).
ReplyDelete:-)
She is very lovely and wouldn't it be the most wonderful thing to fly. I watch birds sometimes soaring above the cliffs and I can almost get the feeling . . .
ReplyDeleteExcellent work, just amazing! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI love this woman! How perfectly you have captioned her.
ReplyDeleteYasterday I was watching my new favourite movie: Fur. It's an imaginary look into what inspired Diane Arbus' photography. In the movie Diane is the perfect 50s housewife and helpmate to her photographer husband, who meets a mysterious neighbor named Lionel. He sees her for the wild creative soul she truly is. The movie imagines her journey from fitting inside the perfect box to learning to fly on her own creatively. It's beautiful and bittersweet. I just love it.
ReplyDeleteThis wordy post is my way of telling you that your painting immediately made me think of this movie.
She is wonderful Silke, you have done a great job.
ReplyDeleteLove Renee xoxo
