I painted her yesterday, and I painted her FAST, which is why I thought it appropriate to enter her into this week's Illustration Friday challenge.
Painting her was very different and tactile! Even the molding paste, I applied with my fingers, as well as some of the paint. The face just happened very fast and by the joy I was feeling as she emerged, I could tell that I was painting her from deep inside.
That's what I love about painting, not when I plan something out to the smallest detail, not when it looks perfect in the end, not when others like it, but when it expresses that creative part deep within. She's gritty, she's asymmetrical, she's almost a little scary and I LOVE her!
I absolutely love, LOVE this painting! There is more of you in this one for sure -- and that's probably why I like it so much! Keep doing what you are doing, Hon. You are doing exceedingly well!!!
ReplyDeleteFor something you did fast..you can see that you took your time where it counted...and you let this just flow from within. It doesn't get much better than that!
ReplyDeleteBy the way Silke, I love her, she looks very real and like she knows what she is doing.
ReplyDeleteGreat painting.
Love Renee xoxo
To me, she exudes self-confidence. She has a true peace about her. I LIKE!!!
ReplyDelete**blows kisses** Deb
Oh... she's not scary at all. She's very vivid and alive. She looks like she comes from another age...maybe Victorian. She's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOnly scary to you then... I don't understand why what is called *true art* has to be laborious and challenging and so many hours devoted.
ReplyDeleteIt should be like this, flows out of your heart, your soul, and your mind, no matter the length of time. How wonderful for you!!
It feels good doesn't it?
Yay!!
Great piece Silke! I like what you like about this style....it's fun to just go with the flow and see what happens! This turned out great!!

Wow, Silke, this looks like it came from deep down inside - now you're getting to that place! Fantastic - more!
ReplyDeleteSilke, she is fantastic! I think this is definitely your most expressive painting yet. It's so free and loose, very earthy.
ReplyDeletebeautiful - well done
ReplyDeleteGreat painting Silke! I love it too when it expresses that creative part deep within. It´s like the painting have it´s own life. Hugs Annika ;)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE HER TOO!! the colors are gorgeous and i know exactly what you mean about expressing that creative part deep within...that's the GOOD stuff!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and spontaneous work!!!
ReplyDeleteWorking fast is definitely a good way to relax and loosen up with painting.
I use to paint with my hands too!:)
When I lived in Australia, I use to paint huge, abstract sea and landscape images, on canvas. Totally different to the work I create now...
Keep creating works like this one... She is wonderful. I love the textured background. Very impressionistic. She looks like, she is peering through flowers or she is wearing a headdress of flowers...
Have a great weekend.
Love Jo.xx
wonderful piece Silke - paint fast again! She is beautiful!
ReplyDeletehugs.......
I think she's fabulous. :) Pam
ReplyDeleteFascinating, I truly appreciate the way she blends into the background...really neat Silke.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous piece, Silke. You do get better & better all the time. I really love this one!
ReplyDeleteIt is true that she is asymmetrical and that's where her beauty lies. She is imperfect. I also lover the colours you used. Dark but easy on the eye. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Love this, her different nose from the others makes it so special and the shading and almost floral woods around her give her such magic. Her eyes speak and tell a story, the one you gave me and this are my faves so far dear. It is like your heart painted them from a different spot than your other heart filled pieces. A poetic spot of perfect storytelling is what you have made my great great friend. She is a miracle to look at over and over. Thanks for the well wishes and I have missed you, as well.I send such light and blessings.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, your comments... they leave me speechless and with a full heart! Thank you so much!! Love, Silke
ReplyDeleteHahahahah! I love your interpretation! She is lovely. Is she fast? Heheheh.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Silke. She sounds like she really developed so beautifully from within. I don't think she looks scary at all. She's beautiful!! Have a wonderful November!
ReplyDeleteOh, Silke! Her face is radiant. Her eyes are different than what you usually paint, but it suits her and gives her such a wonderful expression. She's beautiful. Do you know, the background here reminds me of your ribbon yarn!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love her! Such a different style, and such depth. Great that you are still experimenting and I'm eager to see what you are doing with the other two ladies. xxoo.
