Acrylics, Watercolors and a Commission

Today's post has a hodgepodge of my art, all of them animals but some are rendered in acrylics and two of them in watercolor, which is a fairly new medium for me.

The next two are the watercolor paintings, which are similar to my acrylics and at the same time much more delicate.

And this last painting is a commission that I painted for my client's sister of her four pets. I sure had fun with this one!
I still have a charcoal drawing to show you and also some of my latest abstract art. Sometimes I feel the need to just experiment with colors, shapes and different mediums.

In the meantime, I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday!

  1. I'm sure the person who commissioned their pets' portrait loves it!

  2. Dear Silke Powers,
I am in LOVE with the work that you have done. As a lover of animals this is so wonderful to see them immortalized in vibrant colors. I wish I could afford to commission someone to pain my four pets, but alas being a student is not very profitable. I love how in each painting you somehow manage to make their eyes stand out even among the bright colors, that is the sign of a wonderful artist; the fact you can direct the viewers attention without instructions. What got you into painting? How long have you been painting? What is your favorite thing you have painted before? I would absolutely love to hear!

    1. Hi Olivia, thank you so much for your very kind and enthusiastic comments about my art! I didn't start painting until 9 years ago last March. I was in my 40s and had never done any art before. In fact, I learned in school that I had no talent... ;-) And maybe because I was older when I started painting, I love all of my paintings and I published every single one on my blog. Are you an artist? Do you take art in school?

  3. These are so gorgeous! I love their vibrant colors and that of course is what makes them so unique. How lucky for you (and for us) that you picked up that brush in 2009!
