We set the alarm for three in the morning to see the moon in full eclipse. Even with our streetlights way too bright, it was a beautiful sight! We also got to see a shooting star. And Daniel had made hot chocolate for us. Now, we are off to bed again...
Wishing you all a Happy Solstice.
I'm so glad you posted this!!! I wanted so badly to see for myself. We were having a snowstorm last night. At three a.m. I was sawing logs. Not sure if the skies were clear by then.
ReplyDeleteThat is so totally cool Silke! I was fast asleep at that time yet it would not have mattered as we have cloudy skies.
ReplyDeleteWow, you guys are troopers. Last time I saw a lunar eclipse it was from the roof of a Manhattan apartment building. A friend was having a lunar eclipse party!
ReplyDeleteOoh, was für ein tolles Foto - hier war nix zu sehen, nur Wolken!
ReplyDeleteAt least you saw it...we have had a blanket of fog here for the past 2 days...
ReplyDeleteHUGS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Hello beautiful friend! Have a lovely day. Happy Solstice. Blessings.
ReplyDelete~hopefully your sleep was filled with only the sweetest of dreams...i think you two embraced the night most of us were longing for...the clouds came our way...so we could not see her in all her glory...though i did sneak out this morning to stand beneath her beaming light...warm wishes and brightest solstice blessings upon you and yours~
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice to you too! I'm so glad that the days are going to start getting longer. We tried to stay up and see the eclipse but were ready for bed by 9:00 PM...we are just a couple of duds.:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice Silke! I am bummed I totally missed it! Great picture! It must have been amazing to see! So glad you did! :)
ReplyDeleteI was up at 1:30 and it was a red and hazy sky....so I couldn't get a full look...but the red haze in the clouds was really neat too!!!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Solstice to you! I was able to see most of it until the rains came again. What a sight and a rare event to see!!
ReplyDeleteI was going to do that, but didn't have it in me to get up and out...so I slept through it all...glad you got a chance to see it. I have never seen a shooting star or if I did, I don't know it ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice to you, as well (a day late). :) Theresa
