And here are the last two collage postcards I received from my friend Beth. We have a monthly handmade postcard exchange, which has been the most fun!
Aren't these wonderful? So fall-inspired!!
And last, but not least, I want to share with you this lovely vintage postcard of Paris I received from a dear member of the Benevolent Postcard Society, a group of creative people who send monthly postcards, handmade or store bought. I love this one!
I have to say that in this day and age of the internet and e-mail, I LOVE getting "real" mail in my mailbox. My aunt still sends me letters and every time I receive one, my heart jumps a little - letters are so dear and personal, carrying the other person's spirit in their handwriting! I still have letters my grandmother wrote to me, my mom, my dad, my sister, aunt, cousins, old friends...and once in a while I take them out to read through some of them - like traveling through time!

Do you still write snail mail? Do you love receiving letters and postcards?
P.S. If you want to get some snail mail from me, send me your address in an e-mail to powers-studio.silke@comcast.net!
Thank you for sharing my postcards -- I need to do that on my blog as well! Well, I think I am the Queen of stationery and letters! If not the queen, at least the princess. I have a pen-pal friend of 30+ years, plus as you well know, I love sending notes and postcards for no occasion -- and for every occasion. That's one reason I love being part of the Benevolent Postcard Society. Readers, if you have not checked out their blog, you should!
ReplyDeleteHi Silke, I love the autumn cards, and the Paris postcard, I love to receive real mails as you call them, snail mails, but is so much time since I don't receive one of them...
ReplyDeleteKisses.
Aaaahhhhh, REAL mail! I love getting real mail. Doesn't happen very much anymore, and I must admit, I'm not very good at remembering to send it out, either. But I recently found a pile of blank cards and tons of envelopes, so I may just start. I might even break out a glass tip pen and ink, write by candlelight...what do you think? Have a great weekend, Silke!
ReplyDeleteI SO LOVE REAL MAIL...SNAIL MAIL!!! i cannot tell you how excited i get when i see personal handwriting on an envelope! i bypass everything else in that mail pile and tear into it!! the card your friend made with your print is so pretty - i absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteI love getting mail too and so does my mom which is why I try to send her a handmade card once in a while. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI know what you you mean about not writing with pen and paper. Actually today I bought two paintings and I'm enclosing a handwritten letter along with the check. So hey, I'm still kinda doing it.:D Have a great Sunday and that idea of putting a print of your painting on a thank you card is a very good idea. Nice painting too. Take care.
ReplyDeleteLovely work. Yes, there is still something special about a card in your hands.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards, Silke! I think everyone loves to receive "real" mail...
ReplyDeleteSorry about your slump re: your art work, just know that it will pass as everything does. And yeah for you for finding the positive in the snail mail-oh how I love it but hardly get any these days. I guess everyone is just to busy.
ReplyDeleteBeautifull cards, you recieved Silke, it truly is so much another feeling recieving a real handwritten card or letter.I use to handwrite about 70 christmas cards by hand every year, but apart from that it is ,like everyone else, not much I am writing.
ReplyDeleteSilke dear, I would love to get a "snail mail" from you, and yuo to have an answer from me. I will send you my adress, sweet.
Hugs from Dorthe
Like you, I also love receiving handwritten letters. What a difference they make. Hope you're having a creative day, Silke. x
ReplyDeleteSilke, snail mail will remain the best mail!! I've been so lucky this week : have received so many wonderful 'art exchanges' from around the world. I will email you! Caroline 0x0
ReplyDeleteGorgeous postcard! Love the colors, of course, hee hee. Blessings dear!
ReplyDeleteI love snail mail and I have saved all of them since I was a little girl. I´m glad I have done that so I know what real mail is. They mean so much and I always get butterflies in my stomach when I see them in my mailbox (and that is sadly not often, mostly at christmas). Hugs Annika ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the postcards, and the one your friend made with a picture of your painting is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI love getting snail mail too.
Have a wonderful sunday Silke.
Love and hugs.
Silke, thank you for your comments on my blog about Spike, he is doing much better :-). I love snail mail, but I don't send it as much as I would like to. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI adore the card with your painting - what a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI love snail mail - it is way more special, but sadly letter-writing is becoming a lost "art".
hugs......
Sometimes it is so difficult to come up with new ideas. I love the top one! How are you Silke? I have not sent the snail in the mail yet. Hahah!
ReplyDeleteKeep going Silke, you are doing such beautiful paintings. Even if it is in your sketch book!
ReplyDeleteIt is times like this when you learn something new. A slump comes because your growing within yourself, don't give up something new and wonderful is in you to shine out!
Loads of love!
Julie
