Those of you who have followed this blog for awhile know that I've always had a fascination with portraits and it seems I'm getting back to that (while still doing my colorful animal paintings).
I've had such a yearning for working with charcoal in a style that's been in my head and is finally finding expression.
Here are four larger charcoal drawings I did in their various stages of development. Enjoy!
Even though this isn't painting in the strict sense of the word, I am still linking to Paint Party Friday, a wonderful place to gather creative inspiration of any kind!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Wow Silke, these are just beautiful .... I love seeing the transformation they go through! I am always drawn to charcoal, but I just really don't like working with it. I don't mind paint on my fingers at all, but that black mess is something else ... Still, seeing the beauty you created makes my fingers itch to try it again :-)
ReplyDeleteI have been seeing your beautiful charcoals on FB. I am so impressed with them. You have the touch to make the charcoal dance and make magic on the paper.
ReplyDeleteAll are wonderful, Silke!
ReplyDeleteAmazingly talented charcoal portraits Silke, you must be thrilled with them.
ReplyDeleteEach one has a completely different character shining through. Brilliant!
Happy PPF to you
