Interference Colors - a Postcard!

Interference colors - I am fascinated by them - how they shimmer and shine in a surprise color when you paint them on black and how they mix with other colors. I wish the scan could really show how magical they look...

I'm also working on some women and almost finished the next tag. Can't wait to show you!!

For all of you who live in areas that experienced severe weather yesterday, I hope you and your families are alright!

Sending you all lots of love...

  1. It's nice work Silke. You know, here in Oz, if you saw those crescent shapes (top right) on an an indigenous work they would be people sitting around a campfire.

Amazing, the human psyche produces subconscious symbols that are so similar in so many different cultures.

How is Daniel? He needs to post more work so we can learn from him too!

    cheers

  2. I love the vibrancy of these colors! I can tell you are having fun experimenting. Life should be more about experimentation, I think. I've been enjoying experimenting with my photos this week and just took some early-morning still life shots. Must post on my blog soon. Have a good Sunday!

  4. I love interference colors! In the Golden fluid acrylics, I have several, and find I can use them sparingly because they are soooo intense, a little goes a long way! (which is good!)
And you're right, they never photograph the way they really look...sometimes like the shimmer of a dragonfly wing.....
Sounds like you're being productive; good!
BTW, we missed the bad weather last night; hoping the same remains true today. I don't feel up to sitting in the cellar with candles! LOL!!!

    XXOO!!

  9. Very nice work, Silke, and thanks for your concern. It's been thundering, lightning and raining off and on and if it keeps up, I'm taking Gizzy with me to Columbus tomorrow. He hates the thunder. I don't want him to have a heart attack while I'm gone.

Enjoy your Sunday and happy creating :-)

  12. I love this Silke and you are so right, they never photograph or scan the right way.
I use them alot as highlights. I do not have the goldens, but I imagine they are all pretty close.

Can not wait to see the ladies!
    Have a wonderful day.
    Love and hugs.

  13. silke, i don't even know what interference colors are but i can tell how they shine! see through blue, purple, green and white on the darker background makes this look deep and dimensional.

i am such a ham. i don't know the appropriate art terms at all, but i pretend i do, because i do know when something is good and when i connect to it.

    keep it up, please. :)

  14. I'm loving the layers! And the colors, of course. My head is still under the sea, so the foliage on the bottom left looks like coral to me. I've never worked with interference colors before. Looks like a lot of fun!
