What's A Girl to Do?

Yesterday we had our carpets cleaned, which means I was banned from our living room, bed room and my studio (!!!) for the day. So what's a girl to do but spend some serious time in the kitchen...
and bake some delicious cornmeal/rye/whole wheat bread and...
eat quite a bit of it! Most of you already know my love affair with bread. This wasn't as crusty as I like my breads to be, but it still tasted great! And the smell while it was baking...double yum!

Thank you all for your generous and encouraging comments. Today, being allowed back in my studio, I'm going to try a couple of your suggestions on the back of this tag and show you all the result. I think it's great how art is so truly subjective. All I know is that sometimes a piece just doesn't feel finished to me and this is one of those examples. I'm glad most of you liked it anyway!!

  1. Hi Liebe Silke,

Oh! Your bread looks absolutely divine.
I also like it crispy, yummy!
It seams that we have a lot in common, I love preparing delicacies, not only to me and my companion, but also to my friends.
    Bread included, ahahah!

I was here yesterday... saw your wonderful paintings but was unable to comment.
    Nothing serious, just a conjunctivitis.
Hopefully I'll be fine in a couple of days.

    Hugs

  10. Oh Silke, I too have a love affair with really good home-baked bread, still hot and slathered with creamy butter. I'll take that over chocolate any day!!!

  11. I was wondering how you were making out with the carpets. It's a challenge waiting for the carpets to dry, and even more so when you have 2 animals in the house. I can't imagine how you kept Winslow out of the restricted areas! Maybe he got to enjoy some bread too.

  14. I haven't spent any 'real' time in my kitchen....used to engage in 'harvest' days...where I'd be baking 6 loaves of bread, making muffins...basically stocking up!

maybe I should get someone to bann me from my studio! that might make me want to get back to the kitchen! lol

your bread looks delicious...esp. with all the melting butter...I can just imagine all the smells!!!! Yum!

  17. MMmmm - what a delicious aroma wafts from your photos!
By the way, I liked your tag in the last post - it's maybe a little dark but when I enlarged it and tried covering up individual elements to see what worked, I felt it all did! So, don't cover it up!! Keep up the great work!

  20. Gosh, I wish I could get my bread to rise this way. So good. I bet you didn't even save a crumb for me, did you.

  21. Oh my goodness! Is there any possible way for you to send me some virtually? LOL That looks amazing - I have quite the weakness for good bread, as well. Just ask my hubby! Do you use a bread machine or do it all from scratch (letting it rise, etc).
