Pretty Papers...

A few days ago I was inspired by the pretty papers I saw on Annette's blog and immediately went to this etsy shop to find some beautiful papers for myself. They arrived yesterday! Gorgeous!!!
I promptly took just a few minutes and prepared an 8 x 10 inch canvas background. Can you see the little elephants?! I'm so in love with this paper - dare I paint over it?
On a completely different note, do you all remember the beautiful boat Daniel's brother made for us? Well, Daniel and I decided to take a Boating Skills class since neither one of us knows anything about boating.
Last night was our first class taught by the US Coast Guard. It's going to be quite interesting - and more extensive - than I thought: eight classes, a lot of reading, knot tying and even a test at the end.

I'm basically a chicken about water - and having some knowledge and skill (like how to read the charts) is going to help me be more relaxed when we do get out on the water by ourselves. I think.

  1. wow I have some of those papers too... can't wait to see what you do with them.

  2. Wunderschönes papier Silke, viel Spaß damit!

  3. Oooooooo, I love those papers! I'm gonna have to make a trip to the store and see what she has!
Like I need ONE MORE PIECE OF PAPER!!!! :D

  4. I love paper almost as much as I do fabric. The colors, the prints and with fabric the texture....Can't wait to see what you do! The boating sounds wonderful. Good for you to learn so that you can enjoy it safely!

  5. the papers are so beautiful! can't wait to see what you do with them. You may find that stretching outside your comfort zone in both the use of the paper and the boating skills will bring you many hours of great joy!

  6. Those will inspire some beauty! Silke, can't wait to see what you create! I see saris and peaceful Indian song on the air...Blessings.

  7. I really love this. This post speaks to me. I can feel the love it conveys. Oh Silke, you are fantastic! Have a wonderful day dearest Silke.

  8. Pretty pretty. I can collect as many papers as I do fabric! I do believe that you and Daniel are the busiest people I know!
    **blows kisses** Deb

  9. I'm in love with those papers! That is something I love to collect and eventually I will get to creating something with them.

I took a boaters safety course a couple years or so ago. You will do just fine and it's always fun to learn something new. Good luck!

  10. The main thing is that you know how to swim, Silke, and you should be fine ;-)

  11. Hi Silke, That paper is so pretty, I just may have to get some for myself also!

  13. Lovely papers!
I love the idea of boating classes, I would love a canal boat, we went looking at some on the mariner near us the other day and I fell in love with one that was really run down and totally perfect in a shabby way it was called 'The Naughty Nun' lol
ah well for now I will just dream ;)

  16. I did stop by the Etsy shop and hearted the shop. Your comment on my blog a few minutes ago about every time you went to my blog you got hungry. Strange that you should say that because Renee always said to me, "Gloria, everytime I come to your blog, I get hungry." It reminded me of her. Thanks for stopping by.

  17. Hi Silke! Those papers are SO pretty. :) Thanks for sharing the shop link. I have issues with being in the water, too. (I love walking along the waters just not being in it...LOL). It will definitely help to read and learn should definitely make you more comfortable. :)

I have ordered papers from KC Willis, and so hope they will soon arrive, they are very special, and I can`t wait to create with them.
