Friday Food

Well, at least it's food related! Remember these pot holders? Well, I finished them a while ago and decided that they weren't quite the colors I wanted, so I listed them on Etsy. Simply click here if you want to take a peek.

This is the pair I made for our kitchen. The dark blue just works better with some of my kitchen towels.
And look at those delicious colors I am using for yet another pair that'll go in my Etsy shop. Fun!!
Now, I promise to make you hungry. Just look at this yummy decadence.
Doesn't it look ambrosial? That's what I thought until I realized that it's all miniature food made from polymer clay by Stéphanie Kilgast. Isn't that amazing? She was a featured seller on Etsy the other day and I've been mesmerized by her creations ever since...

She even makes jewelry, like this delectable pendant

Working in such a small format is just amazing to me. I admire it, but it's not something I'd have the patience for. Plus, if I'd make foodie items like this, I'd always be hungry...

Speaking of food, today, I am making a Chocolate Cherry Angelfood Cake for a dinner with friends. I hope I'll remember to take photos to share with you all. And if it turns out really well, I'll share the recipe with you!

P.S. Some of you have commented on how early I get up to write my posts. While I do get up quite early, I actually prepare my posts the night before and schedule them to get published bright and early in the morning. It just makes it easier for me and assures that my post happens even if my morning gets to be really busy.

Painting, Flowers and Yoga

This is going to be a mish mash sort of post - it's been a mish mash sort of day yesterday, busy with lots of little things and one big thing: tax return! That will be ongoing through the rest of the week...

I did make a little progress on my latest painting and am pleased to see that a sweet young woman is emerging. I like her kind eyes. We'll see how she develops!

Now some pretties from the garden. Daniel planted these for me this year and they are blooming already. Bleeding hearts are some of my favorite plants!
It seems to be a good spring for violets this year. They are blooming in abundance. So small and so very pretty!
Now, I have to explain about the last picture. This morning, I decided to do some yoga and thought I would be safe in the living room. Winslow was in deep sleep in the bedroom and Ramses was sleeping upstairs. Within five minutes, this is what happened:
Ramses comfy on my pillow prop and Winslow taking up half the mat and trying to lick my fingers and toes every time they came near, making me laugh. My poses were less than perfect, but the fun factor made up for it...

I feel like I still have to make up for lost time and visit you all. Plus, I have some awards to pass on. I guess it'll all happen in good time. In the meantime, thank you all for your many visits and wonderful comments! It means so much to me!!

Wordless Wednesday - Art in Motion!

Pretty Papers...

A few days ago I was inspired by the pretty papers I saw on Annette's blog and immediately went to this etsy shop to find some beautiful papers for myself. They arrived yesterday! Gorgeous!!!
I promptly took just a few minutes and prepared an 8 x 10 inch canvas background. Can you see the little elephants?! I'm so in love with this paper - dare I paint over it?
On a completely different note, do you all remember the beautiful boat Daniel's brother made for us? Well, Daniel and I decided to take a Boating Skills class since neither one of us knows anything about boating.
Last night was our first class taught by the US Coast Guard. It's going to be quite interesting - and more extensive - than I thought: eight classes, a lot of reading, knot tying and even a test at the end.

I'm basically a chicken about water - and having some knowledge and skill (like how to read the charts) is going to help me be more relaxed when we do get out on the water by ourselves. I think.

Out and About

The weather this weekend was perfect for the most part, which meant we spent little time at home. Saturday, we went to the Spring Garden Festival at the Bamboo Farm & Coastal Gardens in Savannah. We browsed through all the plant vendors and arts & crafts stands.
We also remembered to look around us for some of the beautiful scenery on this property.
When we first moved here, we visited to find out about gardening in coastal Georgia, which was very helpful! We'll have to try to visit again later this summer when their lotus patches are in full bloom - just stunning!
We didn't come away with plants, but rather with two beautiful pottery mugs, something we have collected since we first met 25 years ago.
Later that evening, we decided to go to our favorite restaurant on the beach, since we found it closed the other evening. It was warm and the atmosphere was much like early summer. We realized that our winter had been so cold that the last time we had eaten there was in early December with my dad!
Flash, our trusty friend was keeping us company while we ate...
And afterwards a short walk on the beach. The sand still felt cold on our bare feet,
and the water still colder, but there were a few brave souls (children mostly), who played in the ocean.
And now a few photos from around our neighborhood, where things are finally starting to bloom.



Our ornamental pear tree is more beautiful this year than we've ever seen it. I think it loved the longer and colder winter. Can you see our tiny little kumquat tree in the foreground?

My good friend, Jennefer, who lives across the street from us, has taken a few pictures of the birds at our bird feeders in the pear tree. Aren't they beautiful?!
