So I have had Venice on my mind after watching a number of them and it reminded me of the few days Daniel and I got to spend there in 2007.
It was November and oh so cold! And damp! We kept "having to" stop in at cafes and have delicious coffee to warm us up. I don't think I had ever drunk that much coffee in my life.
One of these days we'd love to go back when the weather is milder. But for now I'm content with armchair traveling while watching Commissario Brunetti solve his murder cases in that most unusual of cities.
I hope you are all having a beautiful week. We are still quite cold here down south. Wearing winter clothes at the end of March is almost unheard of. Well, soon enough I'll be complaining about the heat...

Lovely photos, despite the Noevember weather.
ReplyDeleteIt's still scarves and gloves over here as well.
I hadn't heard of Donna Leon's Commissario Brunetti. They sound like the sort of mystery stories to appeal to me.
Liebe Silke,
ReplyDeleteschöne Impressionen von Venedig.
Bei uns schneit es immer noch. Ich wünsche euch schöne Osterfeiertage.
LG Sabine
Oh, I'm going to have to visit! Have you seen Tessa Kiros' book, "Venezia"? I have yet to make the recipes but the pictures are astounding.
ReplyDeleteVenice looks lovely. Wee bit cold, but lovely. And YOU, oh Beautiful One, do not look one day older since that photo! **happy smiles** Deb
ReplyDeleteOh Silke-- we adore Venice!! Your photos are beautiful. I keep saying I am going to post our Venice pictures-- but it hasn't happened yet:(
ReplyDeleteWhen I finally do post them I will link to yours too!
On our recent travels I read the most fabulous book-- a fictional story set in Venice--"Death in a Floating City"-- check it out-- I loved it!
Happy Easter to you and Daniel!
Vicki
Silke,
ReplyDeleteIf possible, try to get the (German) audiobooks -- they are wonderful! :)
Happy Easter to you and your family -- may the Easter bunny be good to you!
Hugs and greetings from Bavaria,
Birgit
these photos are fantastic. did i read too fast? are they yours?
ReplyDeletei was there long ago and one day will be back. the problem with italy, as i see it, is there are SO many places to be seen and experienced. my current thought is a hillside villa with a pool and a cook. with about 8 friends :^)
currently also, silke, i wish you a chocolate bunny
love

Wunderschöne Bilder. Gut, dass es Kaffeehäuser gibt - da kann man sich so schön aufwärmen. Liebe Grüße und eine tolle Woche sowie schöne Erinnerungen. Liebe Grüße, Inge
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs! Oh to dream...! :D Hmmm, a detective mystery series set in Venice... alas, I checked Netflix and they don't have it... another thing to add to my list of want to watch!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your trip with us... I have always wanted to visit Venice *sigh* even in the cold weather I'd be willing to go, lol!
Hugs,
Beth P
