Finally!!

For a long time now, I've wanted a pretty apron, what's more than that, I wanted to make it myself. So, a few weeks ago, I went out and found a pattern and fabric I loved and cut out all the pieces. And then it sat. And sat.
Until a couple of days ago that is. I decided it was time to make this apron and see if I was still able to sew. And I found that sewing is much like bicycling for me. Once learned, it seems to have stayed with me for all these years that I didn't touch my sewing machine.
The fact that it was an easy pattern also helped. I only had to open up one seam that I had messed up. Not bad! And the end result?!? I love it! What do you think?
I don't know what took me so long to start on this. And ... you guessed it ... I've already laid out the fabric for another one with a different pattern. I find that housework is so much more enjoyable with a pretty apron...

P.S. I have been painting again and should have something to show you soon. I'm so excited!

  8. Love the fabric and the pattern! Good job! I never learned to sew but picked up a sewing machine a while ago. Picked up some material similar to that of your apron to start with some potholders. I really enjoy checking out your blog every day--thanks for sharing so much of yourself. Have a great Monday! Linda R.

  9. The apron is adorable - and the painted toes lend a air of creativity even in the midst of the mundane :)

I don't sew a button on a shirt, but this looks like a fun project.

  15. Oh I L♥VE!! L♥ve your wee little toes too! That Daniel is one lucky man, I tell ya! I hadn't sewn in forever either when I made Alice's dress for the tea party, but the great thing about TODAY is that one can look on YouTube for a tutorial on anything. Yep, I had to remember how to do an invisible zipper. But it does come right back to you. How Fun. You inspire me. I am writing your letter RIGHT NOW! Really. I am. Seriously. Even made the card. **blows kisses** Deb

  22. Silke, that apron is SO adorable! Congrats to you. :) Me and sewing machines don't really agree - although I'd love to learn how. Maybe it's a left-handed thing, I don't know. But you are totally rocking that apron!!! Theresa
