Amaryllis & Hydrangeas

Spring 2010
For the last two years, our hydrangeas and amaryllis have been blooming at the same time. They aren't planted in the same area of our yard, but they've always been on the same schedule, so to speak!
This year, however, our amaryllis are in full bloom while our hydrangeas are only showing the first blush of color. I wonder why...
Thanks for all your comments on my latest painting. Our weather was PERFECT this weekend, which means we abandoned all things indoors (including the computer) and practically lived on our back porch. That meant fewer blog rounds, which I hope to make up for this week.

Today, it's a little more humid, but still a gorgeous day! I hope the sun shines in your part of the world as well...

  3. Look at how much promise the hydrangeas are showing! So much JoY to come!! The combination is stunning though. Here our amaryllis are in full bloom for Christmas. Oh how I do remember that humidity in Georgia the year we went for the Soldier's graduation...it was steaming.
Obviously it is good for the complexion...just look at you. **kisses** Deb

  5. i have never seen these bloom at the same time , either. amaryllis comes around christmas: i often give bulbs as holiday gifts. and rarely, almost never, do they rebloom. that is far trickier than my skills allow. but i don't mind buying new bulbs every year. it is my present to myself

and hydrangea. my favorite. next to the sturdy happy zinnias.

spring is in the air! i think we are all singing in the rain!
